Programme Details

PGDHRM is a diploma programme comprising of two semesters. There will be two batches - weekend & weekdays evening. Candidates who opt for weekend batch will have classes on weekends 8 hours a day & candidates who opt for weekdays batch will have classes on weekdays in the evening for 3 hours. This programme is meant for executives already working in HR/Administration function as well as those who aspire to work in HR function in near future. Role of Human Resource Function has become more critical than ever. The focus of managing human resources has shifted to a strategic orientation, with an emphasis on survival and growth of the business. The new Human Resource Professional is a consultant for the utilization, engagement and strategic positioning of human talent, to meet the business needs of the present as well as the future. An innovative curriculum has been designed to reflect this contemporary trend in Human Resource Management. By combining academic rigor with practical relevance, the program enables students to integrate core business competencies with interpersonal skills crucial to managing people.

The need of the hour is for business-savvy HR professionals who can speak the language of business and strategy, and be active participants in the process of strategic planning in the upper echelons of organizations. HR professionals need a holistic perspective of the organization and knowledge of other functional areas along with specialized HR knowledge. PGDHRM is designed to provide the skills required to manage and develop human capital in the national and international environment. The focus areas include Behaviour in Organizations, Strategic HRM, Compensation and Benefits, Performance Management, Organization Development and Change, Training & Development, Labour Law and IR, Cross Cultural Management, International HRM.

Objectives of the programme:
  • To provide an opportunity of learning for those who cannot leave their present assignments to join course(s) of their interest on a regular basis due to their preoccupations in office, vocation or business but are seriously interested to learn the techniques of effective management of Human Resource Management
  • To facilitate study of theory and practice of Human Resource Management
  • To create trained and skilled manpower in the area of human resource management to meet the increasing demands of the industry in the expanding economy.
  • To prepare these future professionals for assuming a strategic role in helping organizations gain competitive advantage

On successful completion of the program, the certificate of PGDHRM is awarded by Symbiosis International (Deemed University).

By learning from abundant historical data, analytics provides the marketer something beyond standard business reports and sales forecasts: actionable predictions for each customer. These predictions encompass all channels, both online and offline, foreseeing which customers will buy, click, respond, convert or cancel. If you predict it, you own it.

Post-graduate Programme in Business Analytics 2016 - 2017

The Post Graduate Program in Business Analytics (PGPBA) is a one year, full-time, residential program run by SCMHRD. The aim of the program is to provide students with a comprehensive background in Analytics – for which demand is fast growing today

One major change was to redo the entire program around the R programming environment, which indubitably is the major tool for Analytics as practiced in the industry today. An effort has been made to introduce the students to concepts in Analytics that are in use in the industry today. In addition, students of the program will get an introduction to ideas from two major topics in current Analytics: “Big Data” and “Mobile Analytics” in the “Trends in Analytics” course.

News and Events

  • The students of the programme run an ‘Analytics Forum’, which organizes guest lectures, quizzes, competitions and other such events.

Placements

  • This will be the first batch passing out and the placement week is still under way (as of 4th March, 2016).
  • Some of the industry sectors who have come so far:
  • Analytics consulting companies, Banking and Finance, e-Commerce and Retail, Pharmaceutical, Start-ups...
  • The median salary offered so far has been approximately Rs 9 Lakhs per annum

Eligibility

  • Full-time Graduate in any discipline from any recognized University with a minimum of 50% marks is mandatory
  • A minimum of 2 years work experience as of 1st June 2016 is mandatory

Syllabus for the entrance test for PGPBA

  • The written test/interview will test basic math/analytical skills. Candidates should expect to be asked questions about the topics below either in the written test or in the interview. Candidates can also expect to be asked to discuss basic cases in Analytics in the interview.
  • Basic differential calculus: Maxima/minima for functions of one variable
  • Matrix algebra: Multiplication of matrices, inversion of matrices, determinants
  • Solving systems of linear equations
  • Elementary statistics: Mean, standard deviation, variance, Pearson correlation, histograms, scatter plots
  • Elementary (discrete) probability theory: definition of probability, calculating probabilities for simple problems (rolling dice, picking cards…)
  • Elementary set theory: basic set operations (union, intersection, complement...)
  • Basic programming concepts (NOT language specific): variables, loops, conditional statements...
