MBA Programme Overview:

The flagship programme of SCMHRD is a two year full-time residential course spread over four semesters offering specializations in Marketing, Human Resource Management, Finance and Operations Management. Ranked amongst top programs in the country, its emphasis is to provide students a focused and channelized learning experience in the specialization of their own choice to help them become leaders of tomorrow.

Courses offered under MBA Programme:
MARKETING

Marketing bridges the gap between a society's material requirements and its economic patterns of response. SCMHRD's approach is parallel to the recent shift from product focus to customer focus in marketing arena simply because our students are familiarized with the latest market trends and real business models through workshops, corporate case studies  and guest lectures by industry experts, enabling them to provide solutions at par with organizations' needs

FINANCE

From accounting based to economy-based finance, this course is designed to provide a strong foundation in applied finance required in today's competitive financial world. It focuses on the development of quantitative and analytical skills and provides  in-depth  learning  in  the  areas  of  financial  decision-making,  investment structuring, pricing and risk management of financial instruments.

HUMAN RESOURCE

With the focus of Human Resource Management shifting to a strategic orientation with an emphasis on the survival and growth of the business, the new Human Resource Professional is a consultant for the utilization, engagement and strategic positioning of human talent, to meet the business needs of the present as well as the future. The programme enables students to integrate core business competencies with interpersonal skills crucial to managing people.

OPERATIONS

Indian Economy is now poised for another dose of liberalization. After insurance, the retail business will also be thrown open to overseas companies.  Thus supply chain optimization can make a difference. With hardly any scope of product differentiation, organization will compete on the basis of their supply chain management and optimization competency.  To meet this growing need, this course explores new research potentials and provides the students with a technology based learning approach to efficiently manage the important verticals of industries - manufacturing, supply chain & logistics.

Eligibility for MBA

  • A Graduate from any Statutory University with a minimum of 50% marks( 45% for SC/ST) at Graduation level.
  • Students appearing for final year of Graduation can also apply ,but their admission will be subject to obtaining a minimum of 50% marks ( 45% for SC/ST).

Programme Details

To provide the students:

  • Conceptual and practical knowledge of Business Analytics along with a sound understanding of management theory and practice.
  • Corporate exposure to the practice of Business Analytics method.

The programme is built on a solid foundation of programming in R - the de facto standard for statistical computing and analysis. Students are also given a strong grounding in using SPSS and SAS with various add-on packages. Data mining tools like Weka and data visualization software like Tableau feature strongly in the programme. All courses have a solid lab component with case studies provided by experts from industry. Courses include cutting edge technologies like the Internet of Things and Mobile Analytics.

 

The courses in the MBA Analytics programme are designed with active participation by people in industry working with Analytics and Big Data. In addition, all courses are taught by the people in industry who helped design the courses from a holistic perspective.

The courses are designed and taught in a way that will give an appreciation for various functions encountered in a real life Analytics situation - the interplay between Marketing, Risk, Operations, HR, and Finance... Students get hands on learning about how these processes are interlinked.

The increasing availability of data has meant that management decisions can be backed up with solid analytical facts about the data. Tools that were once the exclusive domain of statisticians are now increasingly available to dissect and explore data to expose patterns that are invaluable in decision making.

MBA Programme Overview: MBA - Infrastructure Management

'Infrastructure development' has been the government's topmost growth agenda in the recent years. Involvement of private sector in developing and financing infrastructure has necessitated a demand for engineering professionals, who also have good exposure to domains of demand analysis, regulatory and governance framework, legal & policy guidelines, environmental & social issues, tendering, bidding & contractual management, etc. Hence, there is an urgent need of a large workforce of professionals having comprehensive & multifaceted skills for Infrastructure Planning, Development & Management.

SCMHRD’s unique program 'MBA - Infrastructure Management' aims to ‘Build Capabilities to Make Infrastructure Happen’. The course content blends SCMHRD's proven legacy of management education and a curriculum that has been designed by Industry experts. The course is exhaustively designed to deal with various issues and challenges in the development of infrastructure in India. At the same time, it provides a strong grounding in general managerial aspects like business strategies, supply chain management and business laws. Students are given the opportunity to specialize in select functional and sectoral areas. 

- Functional Specializations: 

The basic division in terms of functional skills taught in-depth to students in the third semester, is in two areas: Execution and Finance. Both impart technical expertise in managing completely different aspects of Projects.

1. Project execution

Effective supply chain management and planning the execution of a project in challenging environments are critical to any infrastructure project implementation. These courses are designed to provide a strong foundation in project planning, source selection for procurement of materials, equipments, price negotiation, commissioning projects under different contracts, contract administration and monitoring the execution as per ISO standards of safety and quality. 

2. Project feasibility & finance

Infrastructure development in India is heavily depending upon private sector participation. It is required that types and sources of financing and their proportion are selected carefully so as to ensure financial attractiveness for investor. This set of courses focus on intricacies of cash flow projections and appraisal techniques as well as quantitative skills for detailed financial evaluation and risk assessment to prepare professionals for dealing with lenders / private equity investors / joint venture partners for structuring responsibilities, returns & risk sharing.

- Sectoral Specializations: 

The curriculum focuses on the Harmonized Master List of Infrastructure sectors as approved by the Cabinet Committee on Infrastructure, Planning Commission, where basic courses on all sectors are taught as core subjects to the entire batch. Students can choose to specialize in specific infrastructure sectors in the fourth semester.

1. Transportation

This sector is considered the primary engine of economic growth of any Nation. The detailed courses under this specialization are Urban transportation, Railways and Transportation Economics.

2. Energy

Energy sector specialization has courses on Conventional Energy generation, transmission and distribution, renewable energy sources, Oil & Gas business, processing and distribution

3. Urban infrastructure

Rapid urbanization is creating enormous pressure on the civil infrastructure of cities in India. These elective courses focus on urban water supply infrastructure, sewerage systems, solid waste management as well as housing and other social and commercial infrastructure required for balanced and healthy growth of urban economies.

Eligibility for MBA (IM)

Engineering Graduate (B.E. / B. Tech in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Power Electronics, Electronics & Telecom, Production Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Oil and Gas, Petroleum, Infrastructure, Urban Planning/Design/Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Energy Engineering and B.Arch disciplines only) from any statutory university with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks. (45% marks for SC/ST candidates).
