Social Enterprise

At SCMHRD we believe that inculcating a sense of Corporate Social Responsibility in our future leaders is as essential as a vigorous curriculum or industry exposure.

With this aim in mind, we join forces with NGOs in the field of Aids Awareness, rehabilitation of street children, rural development etc. Our students develop an awareness of relevant social issues through their work with these NGOs and experience, first-hand, the meaning of Corporate Social Responsibility.

Sparsh

“A tear wiped, a hand held, a smile exchanged does matter. SPARSH is here to make a difference.”

SPARSH, a social initiative by MBA 2007-09 students of SCMHRD aims to bring about a positive change in the society, encompassing people as well as the environment. SPARSH stands for its very existence, meaning ‘a gentle touch’ in the national language. It is an effort to provide a healing touch and an extended hand for the welfare of the society.

It nurtures the philosophy that even if they could bring about an iota of change in the perspective of the people around and make them aware of their social responsibilities, it would achieve the very objective of their inception and set the wheel in motion.

SPARSH acts as a catalyst in the change and follows a multi-dimensional approach to address the burning issues of the society requiring immediate attention. The approach manifests itself in various forms like - engaging itself in research projects, running awareness campaigns, serving as a bridge between the Corporates and the NGOs, implementing field work and above all contributing in as little a way as possible.

Under the guidance of our Director Mr. K.S Subramanian and various brainstorming sessions SPARSH has identified a few areas to start with and plans to slowly move on to achieve the objectives of the larger interests of the society. The major concerns being focused on are:

Human Trafficking

Child Labour

Female foeticide
Environment
Education
Unhygienic living conditions
AIDS
Old age Homes and Foster Homes

The list is endless and SPARSH has decided to tackle each issue with complete sincerity and dedication because they believe in the famous quote by Swami Vivekananda - “Arise, awake and stop not till the goal is reached”.

A message from SPARSH for all of us is:

“Every drop counts, indeed it does. If you don’t believe us, ask the overflowing oceans.”
