Sectoral AnalysisIn the second semester, students prepare a detailed sectoral analysis to be evaluated out of 100 marks. This project helps them increase their understanding of the marketplace as well as share that knowledge with the rest of the students. Mini SeminarsThese are held once a month. The guest lecture team calls upon at least 3 speakers to address the batch on contemporary and relevant issues. Summer InternshipFollowing the first year courses, in the months of April and May, students go through a summer training programme with an organization to get hands-on experience of current business practices. Live Project / Case DevelopmentIn the fourth semester, students get a chance to put their learning into practice. For 4 weeks, students work in teams to conduct on-site research with companies. They then return to the campus to prepare their analysis or case for presentation to the company's senior management, or SCMHRD faculty. SeminarsAt SCMHRD, students are entrusted with the responsibility of organizing on-campus seminars and events. World-renowned professionals in their field are invited to address the student body on contemporary issues and to share their experiences. Students are required to work in various teams and showcase their abilities of co-ordination, time management and organizing events. Guest LecturesAt SCMHRD, it is our endeavor to take leadership concepts beyond the textbooks. As a part of our initiative, we bring stalwarts of the industry to our institute and give the guests an opportunity to share experiences in their field of expertise. Sakal Six Sigma AwardsSCMHRD, with Six Sigma & Advanced Controls (SAC), USA, established these awards to recognize and award people in different industries for having pioneered the implementation and execution of various Six Sigma initiatives, thereby extending the scope of Six Sigma methodology globally. A special award was given to the Mumbai Dabbawallas. The seminar redefined benchmarks across the industry for efficiency and excellence - and was organised by the Operations batch. The Banking ConclaveThis conclave was convened to focus on various challenges facing the banking community in order to formulate a course of action for the future. The gathering addressed issues relating to Bancassurance, Basel II Norms, Consolidation, and Foreign Banks - and was organised by the Finance batch. Consonance '05 - An IR ConferenceThe focus of this seminar was the transformation of Industrial Relations to Human Relations. It was an attempt at answering the difficult question facing people practicing HR - how to give HR practices a human touch. This relationship was analysed in-depth in the light of recent labour unrest that resulted in a disruption of the efficient functioning of the industry. It involved leading HR practitioners from the industry and the students of SCMHRD- and was organised by the HR batch.
