250 participants from the top 30 B-Schools of India. Prizes worth Rs 8 lakh. Sponsorship to the tune of Rs 29 lakh from industry stalwarts like ITC, Maruti, ESSAR Telecom Infrastructure, UTI, Spykar, Mahindra and Mahindra, to name a few. Neev 2007 was among the biggest B-School fests among management institutes in India. Held on December 15-16-17, 2007 in the SIC Campus, Hinjewadi, Pune, Neev was a test of skill, knowledge, acumen, strength and perseverance of the participants as well as the organizers as 13 flagship games and a plethora of informal events kept the campus a buzz for three rocking days and nights.
This year the theme for Neev was Cult - 'Forgive him for he thinks that the ways of his tribe are the laws of nature' which was brought out very well by all SCMHRDians - be it a black tee-shirt with the Neev logo, a six - pointed star, sported by one and all present or hanging - lanterns and colourful banners hanging down from the tops of various buildings in the campus - whole place a very festive and cult-like ambience.
The inaugural ceremony was held on the morning of December 15 for which Dr. Vidya Yervadekar, Joint Director Symbiosis Society was the guest of honour. She and Prof. K S Subramanian, Director SCMHRD declared Neev 2007 formally open amidst loud cheers from the students. Along with the final rounds of all the flagship games such as Augustus, Brandkraft, Breakaway, Dionysus Kill, Kheprian's Quest, Nibiru, Papers from the Shogunate, Stompernet, Tantra, Transhumanism several informal games were also held. They included Bingo sponsored Twister, Bluffmaster, JAM, Kickboxing, AD MAD, T Shirt painting, Dumb Charades, Treasure Hunt and paper Quizzes . The highlights for the three days are Launchpad - The Rock Show in collaboration with Channel V on the evening of day 1, Sonic Temple - performance by the band Euphoria on the evening of day 2 and the DJ Nite on the evening of day 3, which needless to say continued into the wee hours of the morning. The last day of the fest also saw the final round of the premier event of Neev - Augustus, with prize money of Rs 1 lakh being held in the college auditorium. Spread across three gruelling days testing the participants' mental and physical strengths, Augustus culminated in a Q&A round for the three finalists by the beacons of SCMHRD faculty amidst a cheering, full house and in the end, one man walking away with the crown of Augustus.
The closing ceremony of Neev saw Prof. Subramanian lauding not only the Neev team but all SCMHRDians for putting together an event of such gigantic proportions and egging everyone to make it bigger and better in the years to come as it is pivotal in inculcating the spirit of entrepreneurship in budding management professionals. Indeed, Neev lived up to its name - Nurturing Endeavor and Ensuring Victory. |
