Guest Lecture by Mr. Gaurav Parab, Marketer at Infosys and an author

Gaurav Parab, an alumnus of SCMHRD, is a Marketer at Infosys and the author of “Rustom and the Last Storyteller of Almora”, published by the iconic Hachette group. As a part of Corporate Marketing, he leads Global Analyst Relations for Infosys Horizontal Lines of Business, including App Development and Maintenance, Testing, Consulting and Systems Integration, and emerging areas like Cloud, BI, Big Data. He is involved in creating mindshare and influence perception of the world’s leading analysts through relevant and structure engagement. In addition to contributing to newspapers and websites, he blogs at the blog titled ‘Gaurav Parab Says’. The discussion started with his adventurous journey to Leh Ladakh and how it was partly an inspiration to write his debut book. He took the example of Dove’s famous campaign “The Campaign for Real Beauty“, to describe the influential capability of people within the organization to manipulate higher management of Dove about the need to change the marketing strategies of a company on moral grounds even when the advertisements were a success. This was followed by a talk on creative writing skills and then the journey of his debut book “Rustom and the Last Storyteller of Almora”. It was an interactive session where he discussed about the protagonist of his book “Rustom”, a man ready to embrace death to redeem his life. He also spoke about his book’s marketing strategies and his struggle of four years that actually made his debut book into a success. As an author, his insights on creativity, storytelling and their importance in business were indeed very helpful for the students
