The Finance Club of SCMHRD is a student initiative which started in 2005. The club was formed with an objective of sharing knowledge and information about the financial sector and bringing about active participation.
The members of the club bring out a "Knowledge Series" directed primarily at students in order to familiarize them with some of the key finance topics that they wish to know more about.
The club publishes a bi-monthly magazine "Finalyst" which tries to encompass the latest issues that impact financial markets. Articles are written by students,alumni and corporate executives. This also includes an in-depth pre-budget and post-budget analysis every year in February.
The club also organizes seminars all round the year,Banking conclave on 'Basel-II Norms' and 'Microfinance' was held in Mumbai in February 2007, where elite professionals from banking fraternity successfully discussed and debated over these topics which are the buzzwords in banking nowadays. Prior to this, our maiden banking conclave was held in November 2005 on Basel-II norms, Consolidation, Foreign Banks and Banc assurance
In the past, the first “Risk Management Seminar – An industry perspective” was organized on November 24th, 2007 at the JW Marriot, Mumbai. The occasion was graced by several distinguished persons from the industry who shared their views on Risk Management. Some of the eminent speakers included Mr. Anuj Agarwal(CFO, SBI Life), Mr. Hemal Shah(Ernst&Young), Mr. Syed Shahbuddin(MD & CEO, SBI Mutual Funds). The event was a great success which encouraged us to come up with an ensuing one this year titled – “Integrated Risk Management Seminar” in association with MCX on the 5th of December, 2009 at the Le Meridien in Mumbai, where industry experts are going to deliberate on the issues related with risk management .
