On 26th July 2008, Symbiosis Centre for Management and HRD is organizing the regional round of Lock, Stock & Trade, a unique entrepreneurship event, an initiative of National Entrepreneurship Network and SPJIMR.
The Concept:
This event provides a platform for students to learn about business opportunities not generally showcased to public; hear from the leading entrepreneurs and financiers how to grow a company; and invest like professionals! It aims to spark the idea of entrepreneurship among students and potential entrepreneurs amidst the buzz of simulated stock trading.
Lock, Stock and Trade (LST) is a unique event due to a trinity of factors - The Mock IPO simulation concept (conceived & designed by NEN and SPJIMR, Mumbai), the real life investable businesses and the Business Analysts from the MBA program. These factors combine to provide budding entrepreneurs with a one-of-a-kind platform to understand entrepreneurship. LST 2008 aims to provide students with guidance from entrepreneurs and venture capitalists on how to anticipate business risks, handle professional and personal life and pull through all this with limited resources.
The Game:
The entrepreneurs, along with selected students from SCMHRD’s MBA program will analyse his business and act as ‘investment bankers’ to him, representing their real-life businesses to the audience. These presentations will essentially be sales pitches for the mock offerings of shares of the competing firms.
Investors will mock “invest” in shares of the presenting companies. The value of shares, after all the bids are in, is calculated based on the “demand”; higher the demand, higher the share value. The winning “investors” will be those with the highest value portfolios; the winning company will be the one with the highest “market capitalization”.
The game provides opportunity for the students to bid, trade and build their portfolio, and experience…the Dalal Street excitement.
