This Centre of Excellence aims at providing in depth perspective on economics and quantitative methods as applicable to business strategy, and strives to enrich that perspective by carrying out empirical and management research Objective of the Course To provide the building blocks of management education along with enriching the perspective of management students on business issues. To make the students learn the tools of quantitative measurement of qualitative factors through the concepts in statistics and econometrics. To enhance the understanding of students on analytical issues at the macro level as well as the level of the firms and individuals. Academic InitiativesThe COE of Economics has to its credit publication of papers on issues like currency crashes in developing countries, Human capital accounting etc. in referred journals. In addition, it has produced a monograph on society, business and government. The COE is currently working on a paper ‘interest rates and exchange’, rates which it hopes to bring out very soon. Management Development Programmes The Centre of Excellence provides research support to consultancy projects of other Centres of Excellence. It has given research support in terms of scenario analysis, data collection and reduction as well as sales forecasting. This centre also offers MDPs on forecasting, business environment and dynamics of global business.
